A longtail breed originating in Japan and further developed in Germany. It shares its history with the Yokohama and is similar in its small size and its conformation, differing primarily in having white earlobes and a single comb and coming mainly in color varieties common to the game breeds.
To distinguish it from the Yokohama, the Phoenix was given the name of a beautiful mythological bird and promoted as being a bird of fables and legends. The cock’s tail can get pretty impressive, with saddle feathers up to a foot and a half long and sickles twice that length or more.
