Product Description
This is a true bantam breed named after the seaport town of Bantam on the island of Java in Indonesia, brought to the Netherlands in the 1600s by spice ships. The word bantam has since become synonymous with small chickens.
The original color was the same as that of red jungle fowl, leading many authorities to speculate the Dutch Bantam may be among the first domesticated breeds. Dutch Bantams are perky, active birds and proficient fliers.
