Product Description
An ancient laying breed originating in the Netherlands and named after the village of Lakenvelt. The same region has similarly two-toned cattle with the same breed name, known in North America as Dutch Belted.
Lakenvelders are active, wary, and somewhat flighty. The hens are good layers of eggs with tinted shells and seldom brood.
The Lakenvelder chicken is small, has a single comb, may be large or bantam, and comes in a few colours, of which the most common is white with a black head, neck, and tail.
