Product Description
It is a dual-purpose breed developed in the United States as a chicken with white plumage that produces eggs with white shells and lays as well as a Leghorn but is meatier. The breed was named after Harry S. Lamon, the man who developed it in the 1920s.
By the 1950s the Cornish Rock cross took over the meat industry, the white Leghorn took over the egg industry, and the Lamona gradually disappeared. Since the 1980s no source of stock has been identified.
