Product Description
It is an old dual-purpose breed originating in Transylvania (once part of Hungary, now part of Romania) and further developed in Germany. The breed is sometimes called a Turken because it looks like a turkey crossed with a chicken.
Naked Necks have a single comb, may be large or bantam, and come in a few color varieties. They are easy to identify by their red, featherless necks.
In fact, they have less than half the number of feathers of breeds of comparable size, giving them three advantages:
• They have excellent feed conversion efficiency because they don’t need as much dietary protein as breeds that grow more feathers
• They are easy to pluck clean and the hens are good layers of brown-shell eggs, may brood and make outstanding mothers.
