Product Description
This breed is large and used as dual-purpose breed developed in Massachusetts and named after the boulder on which Pilgrims supposedly first landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Plymouth Rock is a hardy, docile breed with a single comb. It may be large or bantam in size and comes in a few color varieties. Barred is the original variety and remains the most popular for backyard flocks, while white Rocks are used in producing industrial hybrid broilers.
The hens are excellent layers of brown-shell eggs and are also excellent broodies.
